
Abruzzo
The Abruzzo mountainous region is situated in the centre of Italy. All the vineyards are located along the Adriatic coast. For lack of the agricultural land the wine growers observed the production of different wine types for long centuries to reach the ideal results – as much as possible of the high-quality wine. The present Italian foreign market knows the wines from Abruzzo: the most significant are Montepulciano, Cerasuolo (rosé) and Trebbiano.
Veneto
The Veneto region is the region of culture and tourism with the ancient traditions. The most important towns Venezia and Verona are word-known and the Veneto region is devoted to viniculture for ages. Its wines have intensified the lifes of people vitalizing their intelligence and stimulating their fantasy. The main wine-growing provinces are:
- Verona and surrounding (Soave, Bardolino, Valpolicella, Pinot Grigio, Merlot a Cabernet)
- Treviso (Terra del Prosecco – Italian champagne, Chardonnay, Pinot grigio, Merlot, Cabernet)
Puglia
The Puglia region is situated in southern part of Italy (Gargano peninsula), it´s called „Terra di vino a di olio d´oliva“ - „the country of wine and olive-oil“ and it´s considered as „European wine cellars“, namely thanks to the unbelievable production: average annual production of this region is 11 millions hl. of wine. The wine-growing history reaches the era of „old Greeks“ who brought here the grapevine ages ago. The well-known wine of Puglia region is Primitivo known mostly as Zinfandel (Californians are growing the original Italian type Primitivo under the name Zinfandel).
Sicilia
Sicily is the biggest island of the Mediterranean Sea, the traditional country of wine culture. The local wine is well-known especially for its strenght (up to 13%) and intensive bouquet thanks to the climatic location and ground character.
